Chef Bob Hurley to prepare VIP/Sponsor Dinner

Once again, one of Napa’s favorite chefs, Bob Hurley of the renowned Hurley’s Restaurant in Yountville, will be creating a seasonal early fall menu to complement terrific wines for the 24th Annual Hands Across The Valley VIP Dinner. Chef Hurley has worked with Hands Across the Valley for several years running and his cuisine and service are always terrific, ensuring guests have a most enjoyable meal under the stars at Charles Krug Winery. Chef Hurley’s roots in the Napa Valley stretch as far back as 1988 as chef at Domaine Chandon, then later as Executive Chef at the Napa Valley Grille for many years.

In November 2002 he opened his own restaurant, Hurley’s Restaurant, in Yountville, California. Chef Hurley describes his menu as local California cuisine high in flavor and influenced by the Mediterranean so that it fits very well with the wines of the region.

Chef Bob Hurley is a world traveler and a devotee of the culture, cuisine and lifestyle of many other countries. He has always had a strong belief that the use of regional, seasonal ingredients is important on many different levels, as it promotes sustainability, showcases local producers and provides the finest dining experience to the customer. He says that the Napa Valley is particularly blessed with a wide range of such products, from produce and meats to fish and fruits, as well as artisanal breads, cheeses, oils and much more. This philosophy is a guiding light behind the menu development at Hurley’s Restaurant.

Always the first to respond to the needs of the non-profit sector, in addition to Hands Across the Valley, Chef Hurley has been a regular participant in charitable events including Guide Dogs for the Blind, Veterans Home of Yountville Luncheon and Pathway Home Programs, Napa Valley Wine Auction, Napa Valley Academy Awards AIDS Benefit, and the Staglin Family Vineyard Music Festival for Brain Health, among many others. Chef Hurley has brought his Napa Valley cuisine to the famous James Beard House in New York City several times and was also named a Shining Star Chef by Cooking Light Magazine. He has been a regular on San Francisco’s Bay TV and has appeared several times on the award-winning California food show, Bringing it Home with Laura McIntosh. Chef Hurley is a featured chef on the nationally syndicated PBS special “The Great Chefs of Napa Valley”.

Hurley’s Restaurant is a white tablecloth, full service establishment that is focused on quality food and service. The dining room, highlighted by a stone fireplace, is a favorite among locals and winemakers. The ambiance is casual and friendly without losing the special feeling you get when you come to a well-run establishment that is serious about what it does. The expansive bar opens up to a large wrought iron and stone-enclosed patio right in the center of town where you can watch the world go by. It’s the perfect place to meet friends, or make friends, where you can enjoy the late night menu every night. When there is a chill in the air, they light up the patio fireplace and turn on the outdoor heaters, which enable even large groups of friends to gather for a casual drink, good conversation and late-night snacks well into the evening.

Bravo to Chef Hurley for continuing to support Hands Across the Valley to raise much needed funds for the Valley’s safety-net food programs!

Foreverland to perform at 24th Annual Hands Across The Valley Event

When Foreverland took the stage for the first time one San Francisco night in June 2009, no one could have predicted that just two weeks later, Michael Jackson would pass away. But since that moment, Foreverland: The Electrifying 14-piece Tribute to Michael Jackson, has been leading a larger-than-life celebration of his musical legacy from coast to coast.

A different kind of tribute band, you won’t see any impersonations here. Instead, Foreverland simply aims to honor and do justice to the music and spirit of the King of Pop. Throughout this truly unforgettable performance, die-hard fans will relive their favorite MJ moments, and younger crowds will rediscover the amazing music that remains timeless.

The band has mesmerized audiences around the country with their one-of-a-kind performances of the music of Michael Jackson, and they continue to play to bigger and bigger crowds. Foreverland’s four dynamic vocalists, powerhouse rhythm section, and slamming horn section recreate hits like “I Want You Back,” “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough,” “Smooth Criminal,” and “Thriller” from the Jackson 5 era through the end of Michael’s incredible career with energy, groove, and force.

Michael Jackson lives forever with Foreverland, as they carry out his mission to move audiences’ hearts and dancing feet with music night after night.

Bob Sarlatte to emcee 24th Annual Hands Across The Valley event

Bob SarlatteBob Sarlatte is a San Francisco-based, nationally known commercial actor, radio and television personality, comedian and speaker.

His numerous network television credits began with his stint as announcer, writer, and regular comedy contributor on the first David Letterman Show for NBC in 1980. He then went on to appear very successfully on the Late Night version of that program over twenty times, and has followed David’s show with guest spots on the CBS version, The Late Show, as well.

In the years after his original Letterman affiliation, Bob served as co-host and features reporter on the Bay Area’s popular AM San Francisco, and later parlayed that into similar assignments as national humor reporter for both National PM Magazine and Entertainment Tonight and doing comedy/commentary for the Fox Sports Network.

As one of the busiest all-around performers working out of the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles, Bob has appeared in or “voiced” over 5,000 radio and television commercials and cartoons and also guested in series work on NBC’s Night Court and ABC’s Match Game; he co-hosted the PBS comedy series Comedy Tonight, and has had roles in the movies Star Trek IVSo I Married an Ax MurdererEdTV and Flubber. As a standup performer, Bob has found time over the years to co-headline or “open” for such diverse and renowned acts as Chris Isaak, Julio Iglesias, The Righteous Brothers, George Benson, The Beach Boys and many, many others. But it is in the area of special events, either as a host/emcee, headlining talent or producer where Bob has been most successful and has found the most pleasure in recent years. Long known and much in demand as a corporate spokesman at meetings and conventions, and with a keen sense of the local community, Bob has become a fixture at such annuals as the Bay Area Emmies, not to mention a host of charitable causes including the Salvation Army and the American Cancer Society.
